Empowered by God’s Word and Spirit
Text: Psalm 119:105, John 16:13
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Today, we want to talk about two powerful gifts that God has given us: His Word and His Spirit.
First, let’s look at God’s Word. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.” God’s Word is our guide, our light in the darkness. It shows us the way to go, what to do, and how to live.
But God’s Word is not just a book of rules and regulations. It’s a book of love, of hope, of promise. It’s a book that tells us about God’s character, His heart, and His plans for us.
And then there’s the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 says, “But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
The Holy Spirit is our Helper, our Comforter, our Guide. He takes God’s Word and makes it alive in our hearts. He gives us the power to understand, to apply, and to obey God’s Word.
So, how can we be empowered by God’s Word and Spirit?
First, we need to read and study God’s Word regularly. We need to let its truth sink deep into our hearts and minds.
Second, we need to ask the Holy Spirit to help us understand and apply God’s Word. We need to invite Him to guide us, to comfort us, and to empower us.
And third, we need to obey God’s Word and follow the Holy Spirit’s leading. We need to trust that God’s Word is true and that the Holy Spirit is our Helper.
Conclusion:
God’s Word and Spirit are two powerful gifts that can transform our lives. Let’s receive them, let’s cherish them, and let’s be empowered by them.
May God bless you and empower you by His Word and Spirit.
Amen.
